Start with the surgeon's medical license and board certification in their specialty (plastic surgery or dermatology). A legitimate clinic will name the operating doctor and their credentials without hesitation.

2. Check Scientific-Society Membership

  • ISAPS membership (international plastic/aesthetic surgery society).
  • National plastic surgery or dermatology society registration.
  • Published or presentable case series in your type of hair loss.

3. Assess Experience and Case Volume

Ask how many hair transplants the surgeon personally performs each year and request before-and-after results of cases similar to yours. Experience with your specific pattern and donor characteristics matters more than generic marketing.

4. Verify the Clinic, Not Just the Doctor

Even a skilled surgeon needs a safe facility. Confirm the clinic is JCI-accredited or meets equivalent international infection-control and anaesthesia-safety standards, and that emergency protocols are in place.

5. Red Flags to Avoid

  • The operating surgeon is not named or changes between quote and procedure.
  • A final price is given without assessing your donor area.
